Church history:

Founded May 1842, the original site was 2 1/2 mi. N.W. of Chappell Hill, opening there in 1853. The building was destroyed by storm. All of the congregation moved here in 1866, erecting this building in 1873. It was recorded as a Texas Historic Landmark in 1967.

It is our great joy to be the first congregation to meet regularly here since 1962. These walls once again host the praises of God’s people through prayer, singing, the reading of His Word, and the fellowship of His people. What a heritage!

Elders

Jonathan Lusk

Jonathan serves as an Elder at Providence Chappell Hill, where he is committed to shepherding this community with humility, building genuine relationships, and walking alongside others as they grow in their faith.

Professionally, Jonathan attended Texas A&M University and later earned his MBA from Rice University. His career took him from Wall Street at Goldman Sachs to founding his own financial firm, and eventually to co-founding BirdDog Adventures — a company built on the belief that families can strengthen their legacies through the responsible stewardship of land and the shared joy of the outdoors.

Through every season — in business, in family, and in life — Jonathan’s faith in Christ has been the thread that holds it all together. He is passionate about seeing Christ glorified in all things, and it is that passion that led him and his family to help plant Providence Chappell Hill. Jonathan and his wife, Kat, live in Washington, TX with their three children — Jackson, Sam, and Charlotte. They love spending time outdoors together, and they’re grateful to call this community home.

Joshua Davis

Josh Davis grew up south of Houston and is a proud Texas A&M Aggie, Class of '96. He has spent his entire career in the construction industry — a vocation that shaped his eye for building things that last, whether on a job site or in a church community.

Josh and his wife, Trisha, met in DFW and raised their family there before making Chappell Hill home in the summer of 2024. They live in a historic 1853 home in downtown, just a short walk from the church — a fitting connection for a congregation that gathers in a building with roots stretching back to 1842. Josh and Trisha have two sons: Jack, who is married to Taylor and serves as a deputy sheriff in Montgomery County, and Reyn, who is carrying on the Aggie tradition as an Agricultural Economics major, Class of '28.

Josh was saved as a young child and has been active in church life for as long as he can remember. He brings that lifelong faithfulness — along with a deep love for this community — to his role as an elder at Providence. When he's not serving the church or on a job site, you'll find Josh outdoors with family and friends — hunting, working out, or simply enjoying the place he and Trisha now call home.
