Our Beliefs
At Providence, everything we do flows from who God is and what He has done. These convictions shape how we worship, how we love one another, and how we serve Chappell Hill and beyond.
Anchored in Scripture — We hold the Bible to be the inspired, authoritative, and trustworthy Word of God — without error as originally given — and the final guide for all we believe and practice.
Centered on Jesus — Jesus Christ is the heart of our faith. His life, His teaching, His sacrificial death on the cross, and His bodily resurrection are the foundation on which we stand.
Led by the Holy Spirit — We depend on the Holy Spirit to transform hearts, empower the church, and distribute gifts among believers for the building up of the body.
Grounded in Prayer — Prayer is not an afterthought — it is the lifeblood of our community. We come before God regularly, trusting that He hears and acts.
Rooted in Community — We are called to walk through life together. Real fellowship means knowing one another deeply, bearing each other's burdens, and holding one another accountable in love.
Shaped by the Gospel — The good news of Christ changes everything. We pursue discipleship that is saturated in grace — growing together as we follow Jesus in every area of life.
Committed to Equipping — We believe every member of the church has a calling. Our aim is to prepare and send people to serve faithfully in their homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods.
Sent on Mission — We exist not for ourselves but for the glory of God and the good of others. We are compelled to share the hope of the gospel here in our community and to the ends of the earth.
God — We believe in one God — eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — who is perfectly good, sovereign over all things, and worthy of our complete devotion.
Creation — We believe God created all things for His glory, and that He made men and women uniquely in His own image to reflect His character and steward His world.
Sin — We believe every person has sinned and fallen short of God's standard. Our rebellion separates us from Him, and we are unable to restore that relationship on our own.
Jesus Christ — We believe the Son of God took on human flesh, lived a sinless life, and died in our place — bearing the full penalty for sin. He rose bodily from the grave, defeating sin, death, and the power of the enemy once and for all.
Salvation — We believe salvation is a gift of God alone, received through faith in Jesus Christ — not earned by human effort or merit.
The Holy Spirit — We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, giving spiritual gifts for the common good and empowering us to live in a way that honors God.
The Church — We believe the church is made up of all who have placed their trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins and the hope of eternal life. The local church is God's plan for making disciples and displaying His love to the world.
Eternity — We believe heaven and hell are real. Every person will stand before God, and the destiny of each soul is an eternal matter of the greatest weight.
The Return of Christ — We believe Jesus Christ will return to fully and finally establish His kingdom — making all things new and reigning forever!
